People networking

“You can make more friends in two months by becoming interested in other people than you can in two years by trying to get other people interested in you.”
    - Dale Carnegie

Connecting with others and building relationships is critical to a successful and enjoyable career and life, however many people don’t do it.

How many times have you attended a dinner or even a conference and during the luncheons or social events you sat next to people that you already knew or worked with?

This is the natural inclination because you are comfortable with those people, but think of the opportunities you are squandering by doing this.

Next time you go to an event, I challenge you to sit with people you don’t know and learn about them. Ask them about what they do and why they do it. Find out how you can help them in their career. Ask them about their hobbies and what they enjoy doing outside of work.

If you always network or hang out with the same people, your network will be limited. Remember, the size, and most importantly the strength, of your network is directly related to the opportunities that will come your way.

Start connecting with others, the next chance you get.
